WomEqual is a three-year project (2005 - 2007) based on a co-operation between national and international partners. WomEqual is coordinated by the Department of Electrical and Communications Engineering at the Helsinki University of Technology. The project is funded by the European Social Fund (ESF), the Ministry of Education of Finland and Finnish municipalities.
WomEqual’s aims:
- to support women’s career development especially in technology fields
- to promote women’s innovation activities and entrepreneurship
- to create and implement a tool for women's networking, the web community weme.fi
WomEqual’s activities:
· Development of weme.fi web community – a tool to support women’s networking in technology fields
Provides e.g. role models and the possibility to share experiences and knowledge in order to create co-support and solve career and family challenges.

· Peer support groups and mentoring programme - to create and implement operations models to universities for supporting women who are studying or working in technology fields

Transnational Cooperation
WomEqual has established a transnational partnership (Women Entrepreneurs East/West - WEEW) with
Austrian - Alternative: Self-Employment,
German - Activating Women's Potential for Entrepreneurship - AWoPE, and
Latvian - Reducing Causes of Professsional Segregation projects.
The operation models in the Cooperation Project Women Entrepreneurs East/West are:
- Sharing the best practices
- Creation of the contents for the international part of the Weme.fi - web community
- Development of the gender sensitive standards for the European entrepreneurship education
